I've just received my author's copies of Sea Legs. Kudos to Stephanie Solomon-Lopez for a cover that puts me right on the deck gazing at out at the Caribbean moon. I realized when I saw the book that I haven't taken a cruise in 2009, so I'm going to have to figure out a way to keep alive my streak of cruising 7 years in a row. Spending half the year in Miami, I find it's pretty easy to walk on at the last minute at a great rate, so maybe in December. I've also planted the idea in a few heads that we tack on a cruise to one of our Bella/Spinsters Y-Tour events. Getting away to warm waters with a bunch of women woudln't suck at all. If you missed my blog last week, I've posted Chapter 1 of Sea Legs, along with some Behind the Book info.
In other book news, I've gotten another manuscript off my desk and into the hands of editor Katherine V. Forrest. It's called Photographs of Claudia and it's scheduled for release in January 2010. The metamorphosis of writing is that it all starts with a story. After I've labored over it for several months, it's just a manuscript. When it's finally polished and published, it's a book! But when you read it -- this is the best part -- it becomes a story again. If you'd like a peek at the cover, poke around on my website (Hint: Check the Books tab) until you find where I've hidden a tiny camera. No, it isn't a real camera, just an image! Click on it and you'll see something you might not be able to read at work.
I had planned to take a few days off before starting on my next book, Mother Load: Book 4 in the Shaken Series. However, my head is bursting with ideas for Anna, Lily & Andy and I can't resist writing them down. The "story" stage is absolutely the most fun thing there is about being a writer. And, I suspect, a reader.
I'll be updating the Events page soon to plug Women's Week in P'Town. Stay tuned. Now go read Chapter 1 of Sea Legs.
