2.11 :: On the eve of the Y Tour

We're kicking off things here in Ft Lauderdale tomorrow -- 6 p.m. at the New Moon Bar in Wilton Manor. Owner Carol Moran is throwing us a welcome party with free beer, wine & snacks, and we're determined to meet everyone who comes in the door. In attendance: Katherine Forrest, Karin Kallmaker, Dillon Watson, & with her very first book bowing this week, Amy Dawson Robertson.

Saturday is a workday at Stonewall Library & Archives. Director Jack Rutland has promised he'll have work for everyone, so if you're into painting, landscaping or just straightening (so to speak) the stacks, come out and join us. That's 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Karin's already scoped out a neighborhood restaurant for the after-party.

If you can be there for only one day, make it Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m. at Stonewall. We'll be reading, taking questions & asking a few ourselves. Dust off your shelves and bring those Katherine Forrest & Karin Kallmaker titles in for signing, or pick up some of the new ones from what we have on hand.

Those of you buried under two feet of snow ... we'll be feeling for you. Next year, drag your butt down here.

For those of you who made it to the book vendor table at the Xena Convention in LA last weekend, let me say a huge THANK YOU!  By far, it's my most successful event every year, made even better by the fact that I get to see so many familiar and happy faces.

If you've never experienced the Xenaverse, I can't possibly explain what's so magical about it, but those who gather each year to celebrate that "goofy show for smart people" are some of the most special people in my life. The only problem with seeing them is that we never have enough time to talk. Or sleep.

The show has been off the air for 10 years now, and each year we all say this might be our last. But still we come back, like pilgrims to Canterbury. Each of us has a certain draw. For me, it's the friends. Oh, and this chick:

It's time for the annual Xena Con again, when I get to see dozens of longtime friends and celebrate that which brought all of us together -- a quirky, campy love story of a warrior woman and her bard -- Xena: Warrior Princess. I'll be signing copies of my latest, Photographs of Claudia, along with Sea Legs and others. If you're planning to go and want me to hold something in reserve, drop me a note through the Contact Page here.

In case you missed it a couple of weeks ago, Missy Good, Linda Crist & I had an absolute ball talking about XWP fanfiction on BlogTalkRadio with host Allaine on a show called Femslash4Fans. The podcast is available here, and listeners are already clamoring for more with Xenaverse bards like Susan X Meagher, D Jordan Redhawk and Kim Pritekel.

Speaking of Photographs of Claudia, thank you to those who have dropped me a note to say you enjoyed it. I've also gotten a few notes of frustration from readers who've had difficulty getting their hands on it. No clue at all why Amazon is telling customers it won't be out until 2011, but I've followed up with my publisher and she assures me it's shipping, and they'll straighten out their order page eventually. If you're tired of waiting, Bella Books has it ready to ship out the door, and if you want it right this minute, try the ebook.

Those of you on Facebook may have seen my status update yesterday. I had to say goodbye to Cody, my 18-year-old tuxedo cat who never quite left kittenhood. It's the first time in 25 years that I find myself without cats, and I'm sure that for the next few weeks I'll imagine her slinking around the corner, and look twice to realize it's only a bag or a sweater on the couch and not Her Lazy Highness curled up in the sun. We've decided not to get another cat for a while, but we may offer our home to hold some critters in foster care until good homes can be found.

Don't forget the YTour in Ft. Lauderdale starting February 12 -- that's only two weeks away. I'm looking forward to seeing old friends, meeting new ones, and leaving this foot of fresh snow behind. I'll have a very cool announcement in a couple of weeks about something new I'll be doing in South Florida. In teh meantime, I'll get two more weeks down the road on Mother Load, the 4th book in the Shaken series.

Wondering what you'll do this weekend now that you've exhausted your supply of new books? Photographs of Claudia won't be released until next Tuesday, so you can cross that one off your list ... or maybe not.  If you're eager to read the story of studio photographer Leo Westcott and Claudia Galloway, the subject of both her portfolio and daydreams, the waiting is over. I'm *extremely excited* to announce that all of my ebooks -- including this brand new release -- are now available through INSTANT DOWNLOAD, exclusively at Bella Books. That's right. You can read it RIGHT NOW!

For those who enjoy the tactile experience of cracking open that freshly-printed foray into lesbian love, Photographs of Claudia is also going out the door from Bella Books, shipping today so you can have it in your hot little hands by the release date. That's a perk you won't find at Amazon, at B&N, at SCP -- only Bella is shipping right now.

If you've read my bio, you know that I proudly claim my writing roots in the Xenaverse. The TV show Xena: Warrior Princess spawned thousands of stories of the warrior and her bard, Gabrielle, and I joined hundreds of others in posting many stories online for fans of the show to enjoy. Next week I'll be revisiting those roots with Xenaverse alums Melissa Good (Tropical Storm) and Linda Crist (The Bluest Eyes in Texas) on a Blogtalkradio program called Femslash4Fans. Our host Allaine has lined up dozens of questions, but she'll be taking call-ins as well. Bookmark this link and tune in January 21 at 10 pm ET.

One more reminder about upcoming events: If you're headed to LA for the Xena Convention February 5-7, I'll be signing books at the Bedazzled Book Peddler booth all weekend. Drop me a note if you'd like me to save something for you.

And if you're sick of all the snow & ice, book now to join us for the Bella Y Tour in Ft. Lauderdale February 12-14. When that's finished, our ship pulls out of port the next day.
