Those of you who joined us in Ft Lauderdale last winter for the Bella Y-Tour may recall that Stonewall Library, Museum & Archives announced my appointment to its Board of Directors on the day of our reading. It's a fabulous institution dedicated to the preservation of LGBT history & literature, and I'm very proud to be a part of it. It's also the largest lending library in the US for LGBT books.

stonewall

Today is $10 Thursday, a simple, straightforward fundraising campaign we orchestrate every month to raise awareness & money for the library's operational needs. What's special about today's campaign is that I'm matching ALL $10 GIFTS to the library, and so is Solutions Insurance.  That makes a $10 donation worth $30, and it's for today, August 5th, only. If you'd like to support Stonewall Library, please go to this page and write in $10 in the box that says Total Donation.

I try to be judicious in asking my readers to support causes that are near & dear to my heart, so please -- please! -- don't feel pressured by this request. I know you support important charities & causes as much as you can. I just wanted to share an opportunity to get 3 times the value for your charitable dollars. Stonewall Library IS NOT affiliated with my publisher, Bella Books.

Thanks, KG

You didn't think I was just going to post it here, did you? Au contraire --  I've hidden it well. For those of you who haven't been on one of my treasure hunts before, here's how it works:

* I've posted a clue somewhere on the website. In keeping with the story, it's a tiny ... baby stroller.

* Click on it and the never-before-seen cover for Mother Load will pop up.

* Drop me a note through the Contact Page when you find it and I'll enter your name in a drawing for an autographed copy, due out this October.

[UPDATE] So far I've gotten notes from Margot, JJ, Becky, Kristy, Val, Tracey, LaRae, Amy Marie, Mandy, Beth, Chris A, Sherry, Deb, Earl, Bonnie, Chris G, MC, Shelynn, Martie, Line, Kristine, Anita, Adriana, Peggy, Linda, CL, Mercedes, Lisa, Mary, dawn, Ann, Elizabeth & ruemor. If you've sent something and don't see your name, try again or resend to kgmacgregor @ Yahoo.

A few of you have written to ask what I'm working on next, and the answer is NOT MUCH. As you know if you've been following my blog, I've been whining about my backache for over a year -- obviously, it isn't going to heal itself -- and I've finally gone for a surgery consult. Once that's over with, I'll be diving into a new book. I was planning on taking some down time, but these two women talk to me all the freakin' time. Can't wait to tell you all about it.

In the meantime, if you're looking for a summer read, Karin Kallmaker has a new one out -- Above Temptation -- and so does Gerri Hill -- Love Waits. Something tells me I'll have a little time to read over the next couple of months.

I'm not usually much of a TV watcher, but I'm excited about the new season of The Closer, as well as brand new shows Rizzoli & Isles and Covert Affairs. It's nice to see strong women carrying the load in primetime.
