So another book is finally out, and the nail-biting starts again as I wait for those first reviews. I'm very happy with Secrets So Deep, but it's a clear departure from my typical romance, the ones that are driven by the characters' emotional baggage, their hopes & all the obstacles in their path to happiness. This story is more action-driven. There's a romance, but it's embedded in otherwise extraordinary circumstances.
If you haven't yet checked out the Behind the Book section on the Book page, I encourage you to jump over there. (Not yet! Finish reading this.) I talk a bit about the inspiration for the story, but one thing I failed to mention is that the title came to me very early and stuck throughout. That's a tremendous psychological boost, because it helps me "feel" not just the story, but the whole book from the outset. I can envision the manuscript, the sell sheet that goes to the bookstores, even the customer who plucks it from the bookshelf. Lots of titles get changed on the way to publication, but this one never budged.
That's a long way of setting up my next update, which is to say that my current story (about a trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro) has been retitled. I'll talk about that soon. In the meantime, enjoy Secrets So Deep, and let me know what you think.
