| 2009 GCLS Conference in Orlando |
|
July 23-27 Orlando, FL It's that time of year again, the annual gathering of the Golden Crown Literary Conference, this time at the Hilton Walt Disney World Resort. I've got a full slate of activities, and I hope to see lots of you there. Check out www.gclscon.com for the entire schedule. Thursday 9:30 a.m. -- I'll be reading from Sea Legs Thursday 10:15 -- Panelist for How Fanfiction Changed Our World Saturday 1:00 p.m. -- Panelist for Connecting Readers with Books Bella authors will be hosting an informal gathering after the Meet & Greet on Wednesday night. We'll have our books on hand (please let me know if you want me to hold something in reserve) and we'll be happy to sign any copies you bring. Also, several of us plan to visit Epcot on Monday and we'd love it if you came along. All 3 of my 2008 titles are shortlisted for Goldie Awards: Without Warning in Contemporary Romance & the Ann Bannon Popular Choice categories, Aftershock in Dramatic Fiction, and Secrets So Deep in Romantic Suspense/Intrigue.
Update on Event GCLS 2009 rocked! I don't know how they do it, but Kathy Smith & the GCLS Board manage to top themselves (that's a lesbian term, you know) every year. I know the heat of summer in Orlando kept some folks away, but it did nothing to wilt the fun of having Downtown Disney just across the street, to say nothing of a fabulous hotel & pool. As always, the highlight is seeing old friends and making new ones. The low point was battling sleep deprivation and a viscious cold once I got home. That said, I'm sure I'll survive to do this again next year, when the conference will coincide with Disney's Gay Days. I posted a blog 7.29 on the Goldie Awards, so I won't repeat all that here. Facebook is absolutely full of photos of women having a great time, and I'm sure GCLS will put up a photo display as well. I'll link it when it becomes available. In the photos below (purloined from Denise, Amy & Rrrose) you'll see Karin Kallmaker & me with three new Bella authors -- Dillon Watson, Amy Dawson Robertson & Nat Burns. |
