February 11, 2009 Book Reading Stonewall Library & Archives Ft. Lauderdale, FL
If you were lucky enough last year to attend the fabulous book event with Karin Kallmaker at the Stonewall Library & Archives, I hope you’ll make a return trip on February 11. I’ll be reading selections from several of my novels, and talking about creating characters readers want to know. South Florida makes a nice getaway in the dead of winter. My sidekick for the evening will be none other than Ruth Perkinson, author of the fabulous Piper's Someday. Update on Event: What a great time we had! We enjoyed a great turnout, and (at the risk of sounding like Sarah Palin) I'd like to give a shout out to my snowbird friends -- Maria, Sandy, Lynn, Kathy, Laurie & Carol -- who spend summers in NC and winters in FtL. Thanks for coming, you guys! I chose for my topic Memorable Characters, and talked about some of the things I try to do to create characters you want to know and have as friends, and that you'll remember long after you close the book. I followed with by reading some character snippets from Mulligan, Out of Love, Without Warning & Worth Every Step. Thanks to Ruth for the photos! |
