GCLS 2008 Print E-mail

July 31 - August 3

The Golden Crown Literary Society is holding its annual conference at the Sheraton Wildhorse Pass Resort in Phoenix, Arizona. The tentative schedule is Meet & Greet on Wednesday night, workshops & panels on Thursday, keynote address by Katherine V. Forrest on Friday morning, followed by panels on Friday afternoon and Saturday. The Awards Banquet and dance are set for Saturday night.

Folks should be quite tired of me by the time we head home, because I'm on the schedule four times:

Th 9 - 10 a.m. Coffee Chat with Ruth Perkinson, hosted by Val Brown. Don't be fooled by the "chat" part. At that hour, it's about the coffee. Stop in and visit with us.

Fr 9 - 10:30 a.m. Stop Wasting Those Gigabytes: Making the Most of Your Author's Website. I'll be presenting on the research I did before launching this site. With luck, I'll have Elphaba the Web Witch at my side to explain all the technical gibberish. Readers & supporters are welcome, and we're sure to pick your brain.

Fr 4:30 - 6 p.m. The Me You Never See (panel). This panel is moderated by Ellen Hart, and my co-conspirators ... I mean co-panelists are Karin Kallmaker, Nann Dunne & Lori Lake. Still not sure what this one's about, but given this mix of people, it should be fun.

Sat 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. Is Self-Publishing Right for Me? The title says it all. I'm putting this panel together and handling the moderating duties. Gretchen Stone, Cleo Dare & Katlyn have consented to sit in and offer their expertise. It should be lively.

If you haven't yet registered, you can do so at www.gclscon.com.

The 20% New Works Festival Print E-mail

September 5-7, 2008

Did you know that fewer than 20% of theatre artists are women? The LA Women's Theatre Project is working to change that with their 20% New Works Festival in Hollywood, CA. Dee Jae Cox & friends plan to stage three excerpts from literary fiction, and I'm honored they've chosen to feature scenes from my upcoming book, Aftershock, the second in the Shaken Series. You can read more about it in the Current Projects section of their website.

The official release date for Aftershock is September 16, but we'll hustle to get some advance copies out. I look forward to the chance to work with these dynamic women at the LAWTP, and I hope you'll be able to attend the festivities.
