I ran into JLee recently at the Lammy Awards in West Hollywood. Her pictures were way better than mine (she carries a serious camera), and I thank her for sharing this one. First, I’d like to thank KG for letting me guest blog and invite you all to read my latest book, Hotel Liaison. I have read and loved all of KG’s books and her latest, Secrets So Deep, does not disappoint. It’s been a treat to get to know KG and even more fun to try this blog, my maiden voyage in that department. I’ve had the idea of Hotel Liaison rattling around in my head for several years, mostly in connection to the characters in previous books, First Instinct and Rising Storm. I mentioned it to my editor as part of another idea and she loved it, so I began to think about how to make it a reality. Er, a fictional reality, but you get the point. Once I began, it took some unexpected turns and I had a great time doing the research to bring it to life. Here’s a bit about it:
Laurel Hoffman, an associate professor of Women's Studies in Berkeley, struggles to stay on track for tenure while caught up in the last throes of a crumbling relationship with a senior colleague. When she hears about a secret room full of papers about women who once stayed at a hotel now being renovated, she knows she has a potential career-saving paper. Stefanie Beresford, the hotel owner, is not exactly receptive when Laurel approaches her about researching the hotel’s history, but that doesn't stop her from flirting with the alluring academic. She doesn't need the distraction, but for the first time in her life she wants to take a chance on more than a fleeting encounter. Click below to read more. While Laurel can't deny her powerful feelings for Stefanie, she fears she's risking her heart as well as her future if she acts on her desires. But can a simple encounter between two rational adults really be all that dangerous? I’m really excited by the end product. Hotel Liaison is the Flagship of what will be a romance series, with the hotel as a backdrop. If any of you have read my previous books, there are a few cameos in Hotel Liaison you might notice. Since it’s just released I’ve only had a little feedback so far. My proofreaders told they really liked it, to the point where one apologized. She said she got so absorbed in the story that she forgot she was proofreading. I was thrilled, because now if there are any typos I plan to point directly at her. It’s all good! I have a website, as well as a MySpace page. You can also find me in the author’s section at www.boldstrokesbooks.com. Please come and visit and any thoughts you have about the book are more than welcome. I hope you enjoy. Comments
