***I Support the Writers Guild of America On Strike***
I'm excited to bring you another Guest Blog, this time from Canadian and fellow Bella author Tracey Richardson. Tracey has penned a timely election-year tale that's already flying off the shelves. You can read an excerpt at the link Tracey has given us below, and feel free to post your comments here or in the Member Forum.
Hey, what an honour to make it onto KG's blog site! I think I've arrived now... and I hope it means good things for my new book, The Candidate.
The Candidate is my first novel in about seven years. I took some time off from writing to read a whole bunch, play tons of sports, oh yeah, and get married, and just "do" and "discover" lots of other things. Getting out there and away from the computer gives you so much more fodder to write about later. Yeah, I know, seven years is a bit long to be away from writing, but I'm excited to be back! (Oh, and if you just got stuck on the "married" thing, yes, my long-time partner Sandra and I got legally married in 2003...one of the great benefits of being Canadian).
I've always wanted to write a book like The Candidate. I've loved politics and history all my life, so it was a natural fit to work it into a romance. The novel features a really hot, smart, witty senator from Michigan, named Jane Kincaid, who's running for the presidency. She's quickly taking the country by storm, winning the hearts of voters AND, unwittingly, the heart of her bodyguard, Secret Service Agent Alex Warner. The two find themselves falling for each other amid the tumult the campaign trail, but there is a huge price to pay for their love. Jane must decide if she is truly up to the sacrifice of putting her hopes and dreams on the line for Alex, while Alex must grapple with her instinct to protect Jane, both from physical threats and from her own heart. It's like no other campaign you'll ever read about in the papers, that's for sure. You can read an excerpt and check out more on my website at www.bmts.com/~cleo
Keep reading, everyone! It's winter and that means it's time to snuggle up with a hot lesbian romance novel and a cold drink!
