Here’s a Sumter Point story I related in my blog a while back: I got an e-mail one night from a woman who had visited my website and discovered I lived in the NC mountains. So did she, she said, and I recognized her e-mail address as that of a local veterinary clinic. So we weren’t just neighbors; we were neighbors. When I needed to take my cat in for her 15-year checkup, I made an appointment with this vet, using my real name, which of course she wouldn’t recognize. But when she came into the exam room, I introduced myself as KG MacGregor and her face lit up. She ran out of the room and came back moments later with a copy of Sumter Point, which just happened to be on her desk. Ours is a very small world, so the odds of that had to be astronomical. The vet techs were very impressed.
